Friends & FOOD

 It's so nice to see feel like I'm back in somewhat of a routine. Working at the high school in Atenea with all the wonderful teachers is so comforting. The network of people that genuinely care about each other, fills me with a sense of security. Last year I worked at a small English school for toddlers and kindergarten aged children. I decided not to return back there this year because the hours were a bit difficult but I've managed to keep in contact with one family in particular. :) They are one of my biggest highlights of the week! It's so exciting to see little Nieves grow up and in such a short amount of time! It's adorable seeing how she really has missed me over the summer and got quite upset this past week at her father for coming into the room to end playtime with me.

This year is going to be amazing! I have such a better feel for Madrid and my mind was set at ease this summer knowing my school, my network of people and overall just having a better understanding of what life looks like as an auxiliar. Last summer the fury of trying to get all of my visa documents and legal work done was disheartening, to say the least. This year knowing a bit more Spanish and being able to navigate my way through Spain is a weight lifted off my shoulders! I live with 2 Spanish girls ( Maria and Ana Laura) and one American girl (Amy). The American girl has lived here for about 3/4 years and her Spanish level is fabulous. It's amazing how much I've learned just from being around them each day. :)

My friend, Elena has been such a genuine friend and a joy to be around. However, along with all the blessings there are also some losses…this year Elena moved back home to the North of Spain near Barcelona. ;,( Sad dayyyy. But we celebrated her well at this going away dinner! {below}

I still have my good friend Rocio that lives now only about 7 minutes away! She was a huge help moving me in this year and let me keep all of my stuff in her storage unit at her apartment over the summer! Angel!

We went to this fun underground speakeasy like bar for open mic. The music was enjoyable and there was some incredible talent!
